The Shari is navigable from Batangafo onwards; the Ubangi, the upper course of which has many rapids, is navigable from Bangui onwards.

ونهر شاري صالح للملاحة بداية من باتانغافو؛ أما نهر أوبانغي، الذي تقطع جزأه الأعلى تيارات سريعة، فيصلح للملاحة بداية من بانغي.
It is worth noting that the watercourses of these two basins flow across the country in opposite directions: the Shari and its tributaries in the north and the Ubangi and its tributaries in the south have a very simple flow pattern: their waters rise during the rainy season.

وتسير المجاري المائية لهذين الحوضين اللذين يتقاسمان البلد في اتجاهين متقابلين بشكل لافت للنظر: فالنهر شاري في الشمال بروافده ونهر أوبانغي في الجنوب بروافده نظام بسيط جداً؛ حيث يرتفع منسوب المياه في موسم الأمطار.
